Bankruptcy Myths: You Will Never Get Credit Again. False!
Absolutely not true. The opposite is what most people find! When you file bankruptcy you get rid of your bills, which positions you to get, and handle, more credit in the future. You are actually more attractive to future lenders, grantors of credit AFTER you file for bankruptcy because you owe nothing. You have cleared your balance sheet and are ready for credit on new terms.
In fact, most who file bankruptcy experience an INCREASE in the number of credit card and other offers of credit. Its only makes sense. After you file, you have little debt, possibly no debt, and your income is protected because your old creditors are discharged, forever.
So, be careful, credit after bankruptcy will be accessible, but it must be used wisely. After all, you do not want the credit to get out of hand. But, studies have shown, and my own experience proves, that using credit carefully after bankruptcy is the best way to rebuild your credit score. Soon, you should be able to get a car loan at a good rate. Just be careful to pay your card on time, and do not max it out.
Yes, it is true. Sometimes the best way to rebuild your credit is to file bankruptcy first.
