Can I Keep One Of My Credit Cards When I File For Bankruptcy?

A question that I get asked almost weekly !
It is not wise to try to keep a credit card when you file for bankruptcy , and always, always tell your attorney about all of your debt, including all of your credit cards.
Also, it is important to know that even if you have a credit card with no balance on it, and consequently don’t list it in your bankruptcy (which you can do, since only accounts with balances are required to be listed) , it is very likely that credit card company will check your credit report every few months. Consequently, they will discover the fact that you filed bankruptcy and may cancel your account. So, even if you do have a credit card that has no balance, share that information with your attorney.
